PACKING

Brain's too frazzled to pack. Rough week, but happy to be heading back home for a little while (home cooked food, bad dvds, less over-analysing)
+
Trying to fit everything into one suitcase
+
Goodbye (for now).

ps. Please feed cat

LOVELY HOUSEGUEST #3 + #4

Grant + Irene

I met Grant at Golden Plains Music Festival this year. By this time though he was already everyone's new best friend, and so I wanted to make him my new best friend too. I started hanging out with him when Irene, Grant and I saw one of Ella's plays. We bonded over the Dog Theatre's interior and eating carrots. We now bond over activities such as Mint Slice smashing.

Irene is a champ. She always has food at her house and will let me come over after work to watch DVDs and eat fries from a packet with her. She used to live across the road from this house along with three awesome dogs but has now since moved to an equally awesome place. I have massive plans to do Karaoke with her. Maybe some En Vogue or Bonnie Tyler.

ILLIN' (YR MUM'S A FOX)

A somewhat old picture of Ilia I took for an article assignment I wrote a few months ago.

For Ms Fox as well.

SPACES + PLACES

My estrogen buddy Irene has lent me a David Shrigley book to read and cheer me up (she's a babe)
+
rearranging because I am bored
+
thinking of renaming Lennox to Cat Power because we all just call her 'Cat' these days

Blergh day today. No sun, just cold. I want to hide under my doona and not come out.

MONKEY HYBRID NIGHTMARES

I've been having vivid nightmares about monkey slash anteater hybrids. They come into my kitchen and attack my pretty little face until it is pretty no more. I woke up screaming one night, which I find amusing. I think I might be hanging around the kitchen too often this week. This is probably what's causing the dreams. Or maybe it has something to do with pet ownership. Who knows.
My friend Nadiah encouraged me to draw the creature during brunch yesterday. It doesn't help because I'm not good at drawing, but this is what I came up with. I have the body of Ponyo. And the hybrids should look much scarier - this is a failed drawing.

It was a good meal nonetheless.

LOVELY HOUSEGUEST #2

Sophie and I can enjoy each other's company whilst sitting in silence. We've been friends for years; she lived at the uni college and I was still in my box-like apartment. I'm not sure exactly how we met, probably through friends but we started hanging out and going to gigs and having nights out. We do stupid but fun activities on Halloween. She is an excellent baker and makes a mean pumpkin pie. I think she was a cat in her past life.

CAKE FAIL

I made a flourless chocolate cake this evening. It tastes excellent but fails aesthetically. 'That's what happens when you use almond meal', says KJ. It's kind of unshapely. I originally made it for Tillie but since she's at work I'm tempted to finish it all.

ps. It worries me that I am writing about my food consumption. And that I'm baking. I REALLY have a lot of time on my hands.

LOVELY HOUSEGUEST #1

I have been friends with May for a while now, she's been going back and forth between Berlin and Melbourne for the last four years. I met her here in Melbourne. I remember she once helped me win a dance competition at some dodgy/boozy night a couple of years back (she was my dancing partner). I was awarded a David Bowie record for the achievement.
This is the first time hanging out with May since her dinner party a couple of months ago. We're practically neighbours but hardly ever meet up. I think she's trying to get Lennox to come to her in this photo... we spent hours talking about cats. German cats.

OLDER AND SADDER + A FEW PRESENTS

A couple of weeks ago I celebrated my birthday. Lately I've been feeling a bit down about it. The presents I received, on the other hand, were amazing. I think this year will be okay, fingers crossed.

BREAKFAST + ME

I woke up today and the sun wasn't even out yet. At least my wake up call wasn't a face attack from Lennox.

NEW ARRIVAL

We have a gorgeous new cat. Her name is Lennox, after the fabulous Annie. She sneezes a lot and has abandonment issues. She sleeps on my stomach and on my feet.

VEGETABLE DANCE!

I came across this today. I made it a while ago, sometime last year. I think I had a lot of time on my hands. It's not very good at all, but I thought it funny then. The vegies are dancing. It's nice because I never feel like dancing anymore.

A POEM FOR TIL

When I grow up

I will find you a cure

I do not understand why this happens

But maybe

I will create a pill

That lets you eat bread

And pastries

And maybe one day

You will enjoy those donuts that I enjoy

Every Friday

Before class

EMPTY ROOMS

Two empty rooms in our house.
They have since been filled, by Greg and Sophie.
